Bar Refaeli, (also spelled Bar Rafaeli) is an Israeli model and has been the girlfriend of actor Leonardo Dicaprio since the end of 2005. Bar Refaeli was born June 4, 1985 on a horse ranch in Israel. She started modeling as a toddler and at the age of 15 joined the Irene Marie Model Agency. Bar Refaeli modeled for Israeli fashion lines Castro, Pilpel and Renuar. Bar Refaeli won “Model of the Year” contest two years in a row: 2000 and 2001.
Since then, Bar Refaeli has appeared on the covers of ELLE, Maxim, GQ and Cosmopolitan. She was the first Israeli to be featured in Sports Illustrated. Bar Refaeli is also the covergirl for the Jewish Magazine HEEB’s first swimsuit issue. The 5 foot, 8 and a half inch (174 cm) tall model has also modeled for Luisa Cerano clothing, Subaru cars and Marco Bicego jewelry. Bar Refaeli is currently the spokesperson for Hurley, which includes sexy photos of the model in Hurley’s new bikini line. She also is the face of Diddy’s new cologne “I am King,” Ralph Lauren, Victoria’s Secret, Irit, Yamamay and Pupa.
Bar Refaeli and Leonardo DiCaprio attract major paparazzi attention wherever they go, including on a trip to Israel in 2007. Two of Leonardo DiCaprio’s bodyguards were arrested in Jerusalem for fighting while the pair were visiting holy sites. Bar Refaeli was the center of controversy when it was revealed she had evaded Israel’s mandatory military service in order to advance her modeling career. She now spends time visiting injured Israeli soldiers and supporting enlistment when she is in Israel.
Bar Refaeli is also getting into acting. In October 2008 she hosted a TV special called “Tommy Hilfiger Presents Ironic Iconic America” for BravoTV where she crossed the United Stated looking at American pop culture. Bar Refaeli is planning to film another episode of the special in Israel. She also co-starred in the Israeli TV series “Pick-Up” and in 2009 will be seen in the movie “Session.” Bar Refaeli was ranked number 45 in Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100 List of 2007. She came in number 2 on E!’s Sexiest Women in the World list.
